New Emergency Department

This two-phase project expanded and modernized emergency care services at the Marion VA Medical Center. Smith Hafeli constructed a brand-new, 7,000+ square foot Emergency Department featuring life support rooms, secure safe rooms, and a new exterior drive-up—built adjacent to the existing facility and later seamlessly integrated into it. Once the new Emergency Department was activated, our team performed a full renovation of the former 6,200+ square foot space, converting it into additional patient care areas. All work was completed within an active hospital environment and included full integration of HVAC systems, medical gas, nurse call, and other essential healthcare infrastructure. The project required coordination across multiple subcontractors and trades, and was executed concurrently with another ongoing project at the same facility—demonstrating Smith Hafeli’s ability to manage complex healthcare construction with precision and care.
