Renovate Building 8

Smith Hafeli performed a partial renovation of Building 8 at the Marion VA Medical Center, with all work completed after hours to minimize disruption. Scope included key infrastructure upgrades such as a new sanitary sewer cleanout, multiple access-controlled doors with panic hardware, and revised egress for basement safety. Interior improvements featured installation of acoustical ceiling tiles throughout the building, requiring associated sprinkler system modifications, as well as full replacement of lighting with energy-efficient lay-in LED fixtures. Additional enhancements included a new dimmable lighting circuit over basement workspaces, a replaced stairwell check valve, and installation of a new area drain to address exterior drainage. All work met VA Master Specifications and applicable building codes.
